But, it's enough to conclude certain differences. RESULTS They both kick up the fans just as fast and just as loud. The Base configuration slows down the fasts 15-50 seconds quicker than the Max configuration. If you disable turbo boost the Base configuration will run a lot quieter. To get a sensible noise profile on the Max configuration you need to power limit the CPU which gets you more performance than the Base, but requires a lot of app specific tweaking.
