I picked the Weifeng WF-3958M monopod from eBay for only AU$40, and I can't recommend this enough. It's a very solid build and holds my Panasonic G85 well. While it can extend for up to 1.5m, like most monopods its much harder to balance - it is possible - on flat surfaces, but I wouldn't recommend it. It weighs around 1kg, but most of that is from the video head which I personally swap out for the much lighter Joby SLR-Zoom head. Although, doing this means you'd loose the smoothness of the provided video head.
