It is beautiful and tiny and most of all, very very quiet. It packs a i5 6 core 8th gen CPU which I couldn't get to thermal throttle, in fact it actually managed to compile ffmpeg faster than the i9 MacBook Pro. Yes, you can video edit, but note using advanced rendering effects will be very laggy. Yes you can Photoshop, Maya, ZBrush and productivity away. But unfortunately you'll be limited by the lack of a GPU which will adversely affect your Bootcamp gaming dreams. On the design front, it only features one fan which goes up to 5000 RPM and while it does ramp up when pushed, once a heavy task is finished it ramps right back down, unlike the MacBook Pro which is constantly spinning out of control for anything. It has plenty of ports, however a port on the front would of helped. While it was cool at first to plug everything in, I kind of came to the realisation that having to plug in an external SSD, external GPU, external ... was a bit of a pain and I found myself wishing that if only it was slightly larger to house these components in house. On the bugs side of things, occasionally my Bluetooth mouse would become laggy - it wasn't a processor or RAM related issue because my wireless mouse never lagged. My Mac did crash randomly twice in one week thanks to a bridge OS T2 error, unfortunately it did so while I wasn't attending the machine so I'm not exactly sure what caused it, but I'm sure if I would disable T2 security and with future OS updates, the problem will be addressed. Interestingly also, while my Sony A7iii camera would charge fine from the USB ports on my MacBook Pro, unfortunately it wouldn't charge via the Mac Mini. Overall however, while this little beast was a pleasure to use, I'd probably wait for the 2019 iMac refresh for best value, as that device at least comes with a keyboard, mouse, screen for a relatively small bump in price. Or if you don't care about money, then I'd hold out to see what they do with the Mac Pro this year.
